The first step you need to take in becoming a Paramedic is finding an accredited training program being offered by most community colleges and technical schools. Contact your local school to learn more.
A paramedic training programs require certain requirements to be fulfilled before you can enter the training program. You can find these information in detail provided by the school itself or by contacting the EMS office in your state.
After you gotten into the paramedic training program, you need to complete around 1000 hours of training, spanning across four semesters in total. You will spend one semester at an internship, with relevance to the emergency medical services.
You will then be requested to pass the NREMT exam before you can become a licensed and certified paramedic in your chosen state. The NREMT exam is both a written and practical exam that you must pass in order to become a certified paramedic.
You will then need to fill out and submit an EMT application form to the proper EMS offices in your state.
